Teacher Bio: JR Vancheri TCRG
JR Vancheri TCRG started dancing competitively at the age of seven. He danced competitively all over the United States, Canada, Ireland and England. He was a five-time North American champion. won 8 Regional Championship (Oireachtas) 1st place titles. JR also placed 4th in the World championships and 3rd in the Great Britain Championships. JR war a student of the Kenny Verlin School of Irish dancing until Kenny Verlin’s untimely passing. He then joined the Donny Golden School of Irish dancing. Both Kenny Verlin and Donny Golden had also studied in Ireland with Kevin Massy, Niall O’Leary’s first teacher.
JR was the first American lead understudy in “Riverdance-The Show” where he toured the world for 2 years. He also toured the USA and Denmark with ‘Cherish the Ladies;, and danced as the featured Irish dancer with the Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra’s Christmas Spectacular.He was also a guest teacher in Helsinki, Finland. JR has a BS degree in Communication Arts from St. John’s University and and has applied to graduate school for spring 2017. On becoming a TCRG, he joined his sister Lynn’s Irish Dancing School, Tir na Gael, and together, they produced Oireachtas champions, numerous North American top 10’s world qualifiers and world medalists. JR is delighted to join the Niall O’Leary School of Irish Dance and to continue to train dancers to achieve their potential.
